Death is an inevitable part of life, and yet it can be difficult and uncomfortable to talk about the process of grief amongst one's peers. In this podcast comedian and bereaved sibling Jordon Ferber helps shine some light into the darkest parts of our own existence and encourage a more open discussion about the effects of grief, and offers coping mechanisms to those suffering through open and honest conversations with other comedians and performers who have unique perspectives on the process of grief.

Jan 26, 2018

In this episode, Jordon sits down with one of his good friends from college, Kendra, who lost her brother Scott to suicide nearly 6 years ago, while Kendra herself was 7 months pregnant with her second child.

We talk about the difficulty of overcoming the stigma in talking about suicide and mental health, and the importance of understanding that depression is a disease that we ought to stop sweeping under the rug.

We also talk about the importance of gratitude, and how appreciating what we have in front of us can help gain a perspective on what we've been through.

Kendra hosts a yearly Fundraiser called "Stand Up for Scott" to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Ali Forney Center.

Thank you both for your conversation. It opened up my mind and heart. My brother Mitchell died on April 28, 2016
And our father Milton just died on January 7, 2018.
Now I have time to grieve since our father had Dimentia and my brother? Torment, Shame, stigma, loneliness.
Your conversation inspired me.

My career involves Body- centered trauma Healing.
Now.. I want to honor my brother and his poetry.
He left much that can serve other people who are struggling with Addiction.

Touching grief and loss.
Talking to my brother each day!

Love,
Laurie
