Where's The Grief?

Death is an inevitable part of life, and yet it can be difficult and uncomfortable to talk about the process of grief amongst one's peers. This podcast helps shine some light into the darkest parts of our own existence and encourage a more open discussion about the effects of grief, and offers coping mechanisms to those suffering.

Where's the Grief?

A podcast focused on grief and loss hosted by Jordon Ferber

On the whole, many cultures do not teach us how to effectively deal with the feelings that come up when a loved one dies.

The goal of this podcast is to acknowledge the reality of intense grief , which can be a very isolating experience, and normalize the conversation about it that is very often difficult to have with friends and even family.

Jordon Ferber, a bereaved sibling himself, gives people who have experienced intense loss permission to talk about it and exemplify the possibility of  making it through the darkest periods of grief to a life full of hope and happiness.

In this episode, I sat down with comedian Paul Oddo! We talk about a variety of types of loss, as well as touching on different approaches to mental health. We talk about the importance of community, and how social stigmas and norms often shape the way we talk about trauma to begin with. Follow all things Paul at http://www.pauloddo.com/

In this first Skype interview for the podcast, I had a lengthly conversation with ER nurse Haley Harris-Bloom about her development of a new app to help individuals navigate their own unique grief processes.

After the death of two of her cousins and her best friend in a short span, Haley began to research the different methods of coping with grief and loss only to find a dearth in literature and support that was specific to her needs, which ultimately lead to her deciding to collect all the helpful elements into one interactive App that helps one deal with the day to day self-care that is essential in the face of a loss.

The App itself, GriefGuide, is still in it's initial KickStarter Phase.
